Our People

The story of Two State and Thomson Roofing is a story of the Poston family, their entrepreneurship, work ethic, determination and perseverance through both good times and bad. Few businesses last 50+ years, much less involve three generations of the same family, yet this one does. This business began in Thomson, Georgia in 1970 and has, over the last 50+ years, been one of the largest employers in McDuffie County. While we currently employ approximately one hundred and seventy people, over the last fifty years there have been literally thousands of families whose standard of living has been sustained through prosperity and recession by the jobs created by this family business.

No business can survive that amount of time without loyal, hard-working, talented employees. This not only includes the Poston family members, but people who have dedicated their professional lives to making Two State and Thomson Roofing a great success.

Our employees are our greatest asset.

As the history of this company is being written, current leadership has to plant the trees for future generations to ensure that they have the same strong foundation which was left for the present generation. There are some basic principles that began with the business in 1970 that will not be abandoned. These will remain steadfast in everything done at Two State and Thomson Roofing to ensure that thousands more families can be sustained through jobs created here.

God is first.

As Christians, we represent our Savior Jesus Christ in everything we do and everywhere we go. Romans 14:8 says, “if we live, its to honor the Lord.” People see Jesus through us, especially our actions.

Family is second.

We represent our family, our blood relatives, in everything we do and everywhere we go. We want our families to be proud of us.

Two State is Family.

We are to treat our co-workers as family.

Hard work pays off.

Whether you are farming, construction a building, roofing, or welding; whatever it is, you give 100%. Proverbs 14:23 says, “Work brings profit, but mere talk leads to poverty.”

Support your community.

We are to live as Jesus commanded when he said, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Have fun.

We try to have fun in all we do, both at work and in our free time. We believe in the old saying that “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”
